William Branham's Daughter
Rev. William Marrion (Marvin) Branham was an evangelist from Jeffersonville, Indiana, United States that rose to popularity during the Latter Rain Revivals of the late 1940's and 1950's. Through those revivals, William Branham became connected to religious leaders in other countries, including Rev. Ewald Frank of Krefeld, West Germany. William Branham's security detail in Germany included sect leader Paul Schäfer Schneider, who with Ewald Frank, helped establish and populate "Message" compound Colonia Dignidad (Now Villa Baviera) in Chile.
In July of 1989, Sarah Branham wrote an open letter to the members of William Branham's sect threatening to expose family secrets. Not long after visiting Ewald Frank in Germany and publishing her letter, Sarah Branham disappeared. It was later learned that the compound in Chile was responsible for the torture and death of several people, and that the CIA had worked with the Chilean DINA intelligence service using Colonia Dignidad as an interrogation and torture facility to overthrow the Chilean government and install Augusto Pinochet as military dictator of Chile.
Colonia Dignidad
Dignity Colony, Chile
Colonia Dignidad, or "Dignity Colony" was a William Branham cult compound in Chile. Shortly after William Branham established multiple offices in Germany, about the same time that "Message" cult leader Jim Jones of Peoples Temple started spreading William Branham's apocalyptic fears and moved to South America for the first time, "Message" leader and friend of William Branham, Paul Shafer, moved to Chile and began setting up the commune. By 1963, two hundred and thirty "Message" believers had migrated to Colonia Dignidad.
The compound harbored Nazi leaders fleeing to South America, and Colonia Dignidad became known as "the Colony" to fleeing Nazis. The CIA and Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal claimed to have evidence that Hitler's "Angel of Death", Josef Mengele, spent time in Colonia Dignidad. "Message" believers in Colonia Dignidad began torturing and killing everyone from opponents of the current political regime to children who disobeyed Branham's cult rules. They were also manufacturing and stockpiling weapons of war. When the compound was raided, officials found surface-to-air missiles, rocket launchers, machine guns, submachine guns, hand and cluster grenades, rifles, anti-personnel mines, automatic pistols, and a large amount of ammunition. As the investigation continued, officials found sarin gas and learned that the "Message" believers were manufacturing chemical and biological weapons. Also found were five hundred files on people who had been assassinated in Chile, from political leaders to entertainers.
